Immersed Tunnel Project between Germany and Denmark - Fehmarn Belt

For the construction of the longest immersed tunnel in Europe, Knowingeo contributed to the geotechnical design of the land reclamation and coastal protection works. The Fehmarnbelt tunnel connects Lolland, Denmark to Fehmarn, Germany, spanning approximately 18 km and currently under construction. Prior to the placement of the tunnel elements, trenching works were carried out and the dredged material is reused as fill.

KIJK Dike Reinforcement Project in the Netherlands - Krimpen aan den IJssel to Gouderak

To safeguard the flood defence in of the KIJK Dike in the Netherlands, reinforcement works along a 10 km levee were required. The soft subsoil conditions resulted in insufficient slope stability and made the levee susceptible to significant ground deformations. Given the limited available space, with hundreds of buildings along the dike, the reinforcement consists primarily of combi-walls. These were installed using vibration-free methods.

Dike Reinforcement Project in the Netherlands — Marken

To increase the flood protection system of the picturesque island of Marken, Netherlands, major dike reinforcement works are being performed. Due to the soft soil underneath, the levees are susceptible to slope instability and settlement.
